Experience

Laura Bush, the founder of Lúmina Language Services, has more than 25 years of professional experience in editing, writing, and translation.

Most recently, she spent more than 12 years as the editorial director of LCGC and Spectroscopy, two peer-reviewed scientific publications focusing on analytical chemistry techniques and applications. Previously, she was the Editor-in-Chief of BioPharm International, focused on the science and business of large-molecule (protein-based) biopharmaceuticals, covering topics such as upstream and downstream bioprocessing, process development, scale-up, analytical methods, quality control, and process analytical technology (PAT). She also spent several years as the managing editor of Pharmaceutical Technology, where her work addressed topics related to the manufacture of small-molecule pharmaceuticals, such as process validation, quality control, scale-up, blending, and tableting.

Laura is certified by the American Translators Association (ATA) for Spanish-to-English translation. She holds a BA in Spanish from McGill University and an MA in Spanish Translation from Rutgers University, where her master’s project was the translation of a 200-page book about Cuban history.

Early in her career, she spent more than five years living in Spain, primarily working with an international law firm based in Madrid, handling the editing and translation of a range of legal documents, with a heavy emphasis on corporate law, including contracts as well as mergers and acquisitions.
